Inter Faith Week

Every year in November, we celebrate Inter-Faith Week at Forge. This is part of our religious education programme and our integrated ethos. It aims to help pupils better understand the various outlooks and beliefs that are present in our community.

The week includes teacher led activities in keeping with our regular religious education programme and will also feature visitors from various faith and non-faith backgrounds to talk about their religion, culture, and philosophy.

Special visitors include representatives from the following outlooks for the following year groups:

  • P1 Christianity
  • P2 Islam
  • P3 Judaism
  • P4 Sikhism
  • P5 Hinduism
  • P6 Buddhism
  • P7 Humanism

In keeping with our religious education policy, the focus will be on learning about the visitor’s outlook as the beliefs and perspective of that person and others who hold the same values. We will not be presenting any of those beliefs as the ‘right’ outlook above others. As teachers and parents working with young children, talking over and contextualising things like this both at school and at home is part of the learning process.

Michael from the Belfast Jewish Community came to visit P3.

Harkirat Singh is  from Sikh Education in England and met with P4 on zoom! We heard all about the Sikh faith and living as a Sikh today.

P5 had a visit from a local Hindu in traditional dress.
